I guess you English speaking guys won't know Helmut Baumann. I hadn't heard of him before I watched a German stage version of Victor/Victoria which he directed. Furthermore he played the role of Toddy, Victoria's gay friend and kind of guardian angel.
I was so intrigued by Mr Baumann that I went to see another play with him, Swinging Berlin, which he directed as well. I took my mum to the play too, and even she just loved it. Knowing me, you can guess that I just had to go and see it again which I did.
Not only is Mr Baumann a wonderful dancer and actor, but I absolutely fell in love with his voice. In Swinging Berlin, there's one song he sang that brought tears to my eyes, it was just beautiful.
