Galileo 7 After Eight

(30 September - 2 October 2005 in Neuss/Germany)

Well, a convention is always fun - and contrary to what many of you may think, it's not only about meeting some actresses and actors but mainly about meeting your friends. It's about having a good time, about talking to people who feel the way you do and about meeting new people.

So this year, we really had a marvellous time. I hadn't seen most of the girls since last year's Galileo convention, so it was great to see them all again.

Officially, the whole weekend started on Friday at 5pm with the opening ceremony which began with a memorial video for James Doohan who passed away this summer.

In the evening we attended the annual cocktail party, all dressed up and everything. *g*

Uhm... yeah, that's us. *g*

me and Casey Biggs

The evening was... well, quite long but we had fun, and that's the important thing about it. Dani and I still had to get back to our youth hostel which was a bit unfortunate but at least it was cheaper than the Swissôtel - which is nice but prices are... far out. *g*

Saturday started with the panel of the Enterprise Blues Band - fabulous guys, very funny, caring and open to fans. Saturday was one of the more ... interesting evenings, so to speak. The panels were great, Eva and I missed Suzie Plakson since we were in the photo session with Casey Biggs but we were back in time to see Jonathan Frakes who was just hilarious. He actually surprised me, I don't know why but I hadn't assessed him as that funny. :-D In the evening we attended the concert of the Enterprise Blues Band which made us... hula. Well, Sabine, Eva, Alex, Dani and I ended up doing the hula nearly everywhere... and after a little drink we thought we were good enough to show the guys. Bad mistake. *g* Ok, not really, but still. :-D

But let's talk about that later. During the con party Sabine discovered that Casey, Vaughn and Steve were having fun on a Harley Davidson which obviously belonged to some Klingon - don't ask. :-P So we got out and ended up having a photo session with them. :-D

The Trekkie Deckie Girls with the Band.

That's me with the guys. :-D

After that little photo session we showed the band our little... "performance". Apparently they liked it so much that Vaughn promised to get us on stage during the closing ceremony. Oh dear... *g* As you can imagine we panicked... slightly... and looked for some time when we could practice and invent a choreography. (Vaughn had irritated us a little when he suddenly asked us to turn while dancing. *g* Of course we hadn't practiced that, so we failed miserably. :-P)

So on Sunday we waited till we had a free period where we didn't want to attend any panels... but apparently it wasn't our lucky day since Vaughn's panel was in the morning... and he made us come up on stage right away. So we weren't dressed properly and hadn't really practiced our choreography... or even come up with something good. *g*

But afterwards we sped up to the Base Camp 1 aka Eva's, Sabine's and Alexandra's room and created another choreography. Of course we also bought the official Enterprise Blues Band t shirts to wear during the closing ceremony. We didn't really think that Vaughn would call us on stage again... but again we were mistaken.

We're doing the hula. *g*

Yeah, so we did have fun during the closing. *g* And it wasn't even that embarrassing, thanks to the lights coming full front we couldn't see the audience.

So officially the con was over now, we didn't really know how that could have happened. Time had flown by so quickly. But most of us stayed for another night, and so we settled down in the hotel bar - after having pizza on the room *g* - and just talked. Vaughn and Casey joined us for some time, and Sabine and I also purchased Casey's cd... I know, we're addicts. *g*

All in all it was a wonderful time, and I can only thank all of the girls for a great weekend. May the hula be with you. ;-)
